A challenge gift of $150,000 has been granted by Colorado entrepreneur Mark Owens, who is leading a project to light up the Bill Smith Ballpark at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.

Two local events guaranteed to entertain local visitors – the annual Relay For Life and a vintage car show – are scheduled to intersect on June 7 on the Oval at the University of Science and Arts.

Enrollment for summer swim lessons begins May 30

Local children are invited to register for swimming lessons this summer at USAO’s indoor pool. Lessons are $45 per student, and enrollment runs May 30 and 31. Students can pick from four two-week programs running throughout June and July. Lessons are instructed by Dr. Nancy Osborn, professor of physical education, shown in back.

Nothing goes together like a hot Oklahoma summer and time spent at the lake or a pool. Parents can gain an added sense of comfort knowing that their children have learned the basics of water safety and swimming proficiency from an experienced professional.

Combining centuries of tradition with a modern American flair, the Ying Quartet will bring its unique spin on chamber music for strings to Chickasha beginning at 7:30 p.m. on April 15 in the USAO Alumni Chapel.
