Continuing with a tradition decades old, USAO's Art Department will host Montmartre, a judged sidewalk chalk art festival.
Registration is on the day of the event only. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. on east side of Davis Hall.
Judging begins at noon. Awards presentation is tentatively scheduled for 1:30 p.m. in front of Troutt Hall.
The Montmartre festival, named after the arts district in Paris that holds chalk art festivals, serves a secondary role as a recruiting event for the USAO Art Department as well as for the university as a whole. It is held in conjunction with the Schlastic Meet, the Acting Competition and the Droverstock music festival.
In 2012, artists from elementary schools, high schools and colleges across Oklahoma created more than 400 works of art in four hours on the six-foot square drawing canvasses on the road leading through the USAO oval. Students represented 59 Oklahoma schools and colleges. The 2013 Montmartre was rained out.
Submission of work into Montmartre 2014 by entrant grants permission for the use and reproduction of entrant's name and/or entered work for publicity and/or recruiting purposes by the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.
