The successful artist needs to develop personal qualities in three important areas: intellectual, philosophical, and technical strength; a liberal arts/”world view” educational background; and self-assured, creative, problem-solving ability.

USAO’s art discipline created its program of studies around these three basic tenets. Our professionally staffed art courses are specifically designed to teach the visual language in a logical sequence of courses.

This program reinforces and broadens a student’s professional education, preparing him or her for a successful career. The emphasis on liberal arts at USAO is an emphasis on communication and the art department is devoted to aesthetic visual communication.

USAO’s art discipline offers a bachelor’s degree of fine art and bachelor’s degree in art, with concentrations in painting, sculpture, printmaking, ceramics, graphic design, computer graphics, photography, and drawing.

Small classes make a difference. As an art major, a student can depend on one-on-one teaching in a atmosphere where students receive individual attention from their professors. Professors know the strengths and weaknesses of each student because they know each student by first name.
