USAO graduates 74 in Fall Commencement

President John Feaver highlighted the distinctive public liberal arts mission of the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma for the 74 graduates, faculty, family and friends at the Fall commencement.

“Here, no matter what your major field might be, your chosen realm in which you’re going to do your in depth study, we are going to require you to think and behave in light of the many questions that must be answered by those who belong to a democratic society,” Feaver said.

Swineford’s prints capture Christmas Past in art show

The sustained creativity and generosity of spirit of one of the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma’s most important and enduring art faculty will be on display through December 5.

Christmas Past is a collection of linocut prints by Derald Swineford, who was the head of the art department at the Oklahoma College for Women, Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts and the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma from 1946 through 1977.

The show is free and open to the public. The Nesbitt Gallery is located in Davis Hall and is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

USAO inducts 9 students into elite honor society

Nine students at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma were honored recently for their academic achievements and community and campus activities as they were initiated into Hypatia, USAO’s only campus-wide honor society.

The students were inducted on Nov. 6 during an awards luncheon attended by faculty, staff and family members.
