USAO Writing Center


At the USAO Writing Center, we're here to provide help to all kinds of students working on all kinds of writing projects, including: 

  • Understanding assignment instructions
  • Thesis statements
  • Paper organization
  • Sentence structure (including run-on sentences and comma splices)
  • English as a Second Language (ESL) writing
  • MLA format (as well as APA, Chicago)
  • ...and many others.

Where is the Writing Center?

Nash 306.  Go up the main steps and turn left.  Enter the big room.  The Writing Center is on the left. 
 

When is the Writing Center open?

Spring 2014:

Monday 10:15-2:00, 4:00-8:00

Tuesday 8:30-3:00, 7:00-9:00

Wednesday 10:15-2, 4:00-9:00

Thursday 8:30-3:00

Friday 9:00-1:00

Saturday- closed

Sunday 4:00-9:00

 

Do I need to make an appointment?

No- students are seen on a first-come, first-served basis.  If the tutor is busy when you stop in, you'll have to wait. 

 

How long does a meeting with a tutor last?

It depends on what kind of help you're looking for on your paper.  Meetings range from 30 minutes to one hour.

 

Will it cost me anything?

No!  Any currently enrolled USAO student can visit the Writing Center for free.
