Dr. Loyce J. Willett Scholarship

Considered an expert in physical education, Dr. Loyce Willett, a 1954 OCW graduate, had more than 30 years teaching experience in the field. 

She received her bachelor’s degree in physical education at OCW, her master’s degree in physical education at Mills College and her doctorate in curriculum and supervision from the University of Oklahoma. 

Willett was a teaching fellow at Mills College for two years and taught in the Oklahoma City Public Schools for four years.  She was a graduate assistant and special instructions teacher at OU, assistant professor of education at Western Kentucky University and served as a consultant for health and physical education for the Oklahoma City Schools for 20 years. 

She was the first woman athletic director in Oklahoma City and received the USAO Alumni Hall of Fame award in 1992.

Preference is given to a physical education /health major.  The scholarship is awarded the semester the student is to do student teaching.  It is not to be awarded as an athletic scholarship.
