Sue Caldwell Smith Scholarship

Sue Caldwell Smith, established the Sue Caldwell Smith Scholarship during the 2009 Alumni Homecoming.

Sue was from the class of 1949, a member of Eche Sae, President of Student Government, and the Fashion Board. And because of her love for OCW and the Home Economics Department, she generously provided funds for the Class of 1949 Alumni Bridge, established a scholarship honoring Lynda Hanna Holding and donated playground equipment honoring Ila Winton for the college’s day school.

She is continuing her support of the college by establishing a scholarship in memory of her husband, James Virgil Smith. Because of her husband’s long-time career as a teacher and chemist for Phillips Petroleum, she intends for the scholarship be for science majors with the scholarship renewable on an annual basis by the student recipient(s) if full-time status and grades are maintained.
