Jewell LaVaughn Suddath Freeman of Pauls Valley was born December 19, 1911 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Grover Cleveland Dixon and Myrtle Armour Dixon. She passed away April 4, 2009 at Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 97 years. Jewell graduated from Pauls Valley High School in the class of 1928 and attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Okla. She married A.N. (Bill) Suddath on September 10, 1931. They had one son, Noel Dixon Suddath. After the death of her husband of 43 years she married William Jennings Freeman on August 9, 1975.

Jewel M. Harris, 89, passed away Monday, Dec. 1, 2008. Funeral: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Lukes in the Meadow Episcopal Church. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Greenwood Funeral Home. Jewel was born Feb. 1, 1919, in Rush Springs, Okla., to Ransom and Arabelle Southerland. She graduated from Rush Springs High School and attended Oklahoma Women's College. Jewel lived a life in service to God and our country through Meadowbrook Baptist Church and Navy Mothers Organization.

Jewel E. Holland age 90 of Bartlesville, Oklahoma died Thursday, October 29, 2009 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Funeral Services were held at 1 p.m., Monday, November 2, 2009 at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas with the Reverend Bill Wright officiating. Burial followed in the Sunnyside Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the American Diabetes Association or the Oklahoma Retired Education Association and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas.

Basham, Jency Allen BASHAM Jency Allen, 84, widow of Jack Basham, died Thu July 12, 2007 at Winchester Center for Health and Rehabilitation. She was the daughter of the late Joe Allen and Agnes Johnson. She was retired from the Fayette County public school system. Mrs. Basham attended Oklahoma College for Women. Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Basham and Viki Basham Leach; two grandchildren, Ron and William Leach; and a sister Inez Glanders. Funeral services will be 2pm Tue at Kerr Brothers-E. Main by the Rev. Don Frye.

Funeral service for Jeannie Marie Cavel Smith, 51, of Chickasha, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at the First Christian Church in Chickasha. Rev. Michael Oberlander will officiate. Jeannie was born the daughter of William "Bill" Cavel and Billie Marie DeKinder on Feb. 3, 1958, in Chickasha. She died on Nov. 8, 2009 in Chickasha. An exceptionally talented artist who graduated from USAO with a Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, Jeannie was constantly scouring the countryside for unusual items to paint.

Jeanne Gertrude Kanady, 85, St. Joseph, died April 18, 2009 with her family at her side. She was born Jeanne Gertrude Rider on Aug. 8, 1923, in Chickasha, Okla., to Herbert and Bessie Rider. Mrs. Kanady was preceded in death by her parents. She was a member of the Buchanan County Women’s Democratic Club and the Buchanan County Democratic Club, a member of the Y-Women Club of the YWCA. She was an alumna of the Oklahoma College for Women where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology.

Smith, Jeanette Owen Jeanette Owen Smith May 18, 1922 ù June 9, 2009 Jeanette Owen Smith, 87, of Duncan, died Tuesday, June 9, 2009, in her home in Duncan. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Duncan City Cemetery with the Rev. Phil Ware officiating. Interment is under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home. She was born May 18, 1922, in Chickasha, to Walter Gutherie and Maud Dodds Owen. She married J. Kenneth Smith on Sept. 3, 1966, in McCloud. He preceded her in death on Dec. 17, 2007.She graduated from Oklahoma College for Women with a bachelor's degree in economics.

PEPPERS, Jean A. (Dobbs)

Jean Ann Dobbs Peppers, 80, of Arlington, died Wednesday, April 1, 2009, after a hospitalization in Oklahoma City. A private memorial will be held in Duncan on April 20. Jean was born June 3, 1928, in Hollis, Okla., to Oren Dobbs and Faremene Shook Dobbs Ellis. She graduated from Duncan High School in 1946, attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Okla., and married James M. Peppers in 1947. After his Navy tour, they moved to Houston, where James completed his engineering and law studies. They returned to Duncan in 1960, when he accepted a position with Halliburton.

Funeral Services for Janet Pool, 55, of Chickasha will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, April 8, 2008, in the Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel. Janet Pool was born was July 13, 1952 in Ponca City, Oklahoma the daughter of Alvie E. Wigley and Katherine (Brooks) Wigley. She died April 4, 2008 at her home in Chickasha. Janet moved to Chickasha in 1958 where she attended grade school and graduated high school. She then attended USAO for one year and Oklahoma State University. After college she met and married John W. Tucker in March of 1973.

Haymes, Jane HAYMES,, JANE VANCE MATHIS Jane Haymes died peacefully on September 19, 2007. She was born on January 26, 1914 in Frederick, Oklahoma. She graduated form Oklahoma College for Women with a Bachelors in mathematics. She married Carl Orville Haymes in 1939. After his untimely death in 1960 she returned to teaching in DISD until retiring in 1979.
