Funeral service for Hal Gene Pike, age 53, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2008, in the Southern Oaks Church of Christ. Jim Sheerer will officiate. Hal was born the son of Harold Gene Pike and Rheta Nadine St. John Pike on August 16, 1954, in Chickasha. He died on April 20, 2008, in Oklahoma City. Hal graduated from Chickasha High School at the age of 16. At the age of 19, he graduated from OCLA (now USAO) where he began working in 1978.
Memorial service for Griffith Richard Hughes, age 91, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 25,2008, in the First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Barbara Hunt will officiate. Griffith Richard Hughes, son of William G. Hughes and Mamie A. Gillfilin Hughes, was born on November 10, 1916, in Fort Scott, Kansas. He died on Monday, June 23, 2008 in Chickasha. He married Bettye Rushing on June 8, 1963 in Fort Scott, Kansas. He graduated from high school in Fort Scott and later graduated from Fort Scott Community College and Kansas State University.
Gloria Mae (Kelly) Swarts, 78, longtime resident of Oklahoma City, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2009 after a valiant struggle with cancer. She was born February 13, 1931, in Eakly, Oklahoma to William Albert Kelly and Rita Odessa (Robbins) Kelly. Raised in nearby Carnegie, Oklahoma, along with her younger brother, Daniel Linwood (Buck) Kelly, her family owned Kelly Grocery during the Depression. They later introduced peanut farming to Southwest Oklahoma.

Funeral service for Geraldine W. Jones, 87, of Lawton, will be 2 p.m. .Tuesday in the Immanuel Baptist Church in Duncan with Dr. Jack Robbins officiating. Mrs. Jones died Sunday in a Lawton care center. Burial will be in the Duncan City Cemetery under direction of the Becker Funeral Home. She was born Nov. 29, 1922 in Coalgate. She grew up in Coalgate and was a graduate of Coalgate High School and attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. She married Edwin Allan Jones on Sept. 7, 1940 in Chickasha and together they moved to Duncan in 1944. He preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 2005.
Services for Geneva Chambless Trott were held on August 25, 2007 in Hawaii. She was born November 22, 1931 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, daughter of the late Jimmy and Mildred Matthews Chambless and granddaughter of W.C. Matthews, a Pioneer resident of Chickasha. She attended Chickasha public schools graduating in 1948. She attended OCW (now USAO) and graduated with a degree in education to teach physical education. Mrs Trott taught in the Tulsa, Oklahoma public school system prior to her marriage She recently moved to Hawaii. In 1955 she married Richard Lee Trott who predeceased her.
Genelle L. Procter, 78, died January 10 at her home in Highlands Ranch, CO, surrounded by her family. Graveside service is 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 23 at the Fairlawn Cemetery, Chickasha, OK. Arrangements are under the care of Ellis Family Services of Littleton, CO. A retired teacher and the wife of Dan H. Procter, Hazel Genelle Lanier (named for her Aunt Hazel) was born November 25, 1931, at her family's home on Dakota Street in Chickasha. Genelle graduated from Chickasha High School, where at age 16 she met her future husband, Dan.
Memorial service for Dr. Freeman H. Beets, 90, former President of OCW of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 8, 2009 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Beets was born April 19, 1919, in Chickasha, Oklahoma the son of Daniel and Ida Belle (Alverson) Beets and died September 29, 2009 in Chickasha. Dr. Beets had lived in Chickasha most of his life. He and Margaret Edwards were married December 25, 1941 in McAlester, Oklahoma. He served as president of OCW. He also worked for the Baptist General Convention in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr.
Former longtime Duncan, Okla., resident Fredy Nell Jones, 84, of Wichita, Kan., passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and friends Thursday, May 1, 2008, in Riverside Village Nursing Home in Wichita. Graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Duncan Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Southerland officiating. Interment is under direction of Don Grantham Funeral Home.
