March 2010

Education Honor Society

Six students at the University of Science and Arts were honored March 10 as they were initiated in Kappa Delta Pi, an international honor society in education.

"We are proud of these initiates," said Dr. Jeanne Mather, sponsor of the group and professor of education at USAO. "Each has excelled in college, understands the importance of being a life-long learner, and is expected to be an outstanding educator, one who will truly make a difference in his or her students’ lives."

BFA Art Exhibition

The art work of three graduating bachelor of fine art students and seven BFA graduates goes on display March 27 as the USAO Art Galley presents "An Art Affar."

An opening reception for the show is scheduled March 27 at 6 p.m. in the Gallery. The exhibition runs through April 24. The USAO Art Gallery is located on the first floor of Davis Hall on the USAO campus. Davis Hall is on the oval at South 17th Street between Grand Avenue and Alabama Streets in Chickasha. Senior Michelle Bauer

After focusing on school and softball at USAO for four years, Senior Michelle Bauer’s time as a Drover is limited.

Last year, Bauer was named an NAIA Academic All-American for her high GPA in addition to her time on the field.

“Between softball and homework, there’s really not a lot of time for anything else,” she said.

The Lady Drovers have a new head coach this year, which is something Bauer said is a refreshing change.

Droverstock is This Week!

Ten hours of live music, food vendors, inflatables, henna tattoos and a college campus covered in art are all part of the Spring Triad at the USAO -- three events in one day that includes Droverstock.

The 15th annual Droverstock promises to be one of the best, said organizers. The day-long outdoor music festival is scheduled April 1 beginning at 10 a.m. in the oval at USAO.
