Shawnee resident Mattie Lucille Morris, 92, died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2007, in a Tulsa hospital. She was born Aug. 29, 1915, in Crowder Okla., to John Franklin and Nancy Isabelle (Denton) Bolling. Lucille completed her university education at Oklahoma College for Women followed by further study at Southeastern State University. She taught upper school math and science following graduation. The majority of her life was spent in Shawnee, as a homemaker and community volunteer. She was a member of McAlester United Methodist Church. She had spent the last year in Bixby, Okla.
Mary Ruth (Haynes) Lester, went into the arms of our Lord Jesus Christ September 29, 2008. Mary was born in Wilson, Oklahoma on October 23, 1920. She graduated from Oklahoma College for Women and Southern State Teachers College. After migrating to California, she worked at Cal Tech during WW II. After the War she worked for the Pasadena Police Department and was a member of the Pasadena First Methodist Church where, in 1950, she met her husband, David William Lester. They were married in 1951 and honeymooned in Yosemite and enjoyed skiing at Badger Pass.
Mary Penoi Conover died on December 5, 2009 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born on July 7, 1934 in Bartles-ville, OK to William and Una Penoi Conover. She is survived by two sisters: Una Jo Teter and her husband, Philip; Mildred Watson and her husband, Ben; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Stella Craft, all of whom will miss her loving calmness. Mary was preceded in death by her brother, William, Jr.; one sister, Shirley Gael Weiss.
Mary Lois Brown, 95, died July 28, 2009, in Tulsa, OK. She is survived by her sons, Frank E. Brown, Jr., of Alexandria, VA; Robert Brown, of New York City; and Donald Brown, of Tulsa; four grandsons, Kevin Brown, of Bloomfield, NJ; Spencer Brown, of Atlanta, GA.; Alex Brown, of Tulsa; and Christopher Brown, of Alexandria, VA; a granddaughter, Meredith McGowan, of Bethesda, MD; and four great-grandchildren. She was born October 16, 1913, in Cordell, OK, the youngest of five children. Her mother, Lois 0. Knie, was a schoolteacher; her father, Robert L.
Mary Lou Marshall Funeral service for Mary Lou Marshall will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2007, at the Southern Oaks Church of Christ. Jim Sheerer and Paul Richardson will officiate. On August 4, 2007 Mary Lou Marshall of Chickasha, OK passed away some 10 months after being diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Lou GehrigÆs Disease. She died at the age of 69 at the residence of her daughter, Daphne Massa of Nixa, MO who had been her caregiver since just before her final diagnosis.
Knight, Mary Joanne "Jan," passed away on Monday, May 19, 2008, following a lengthy illness. She was born on July 26, 1929 in Muskogee, OK to Henry and Cecil (Ogden) Roberson. She graduated from Muskogee High School and the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, OK. She married George H. Knight, Jr. on September 5, 1951 in Muskogee. Jan was an outgoing person who loved everyone she met. Her home was always a welcoming place for her children's friends and later for her grandkids. She enjoyed golf, tennis, bowling, playing Bridge, working puzzles and reading.
Mary Joan Garrett, former resident of Blackwell, died Sunday, June 21, 2009, in Specialty Hospital in Tulsa. She was 83. The graveside service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 23, in Blackwell Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Miller and Rev. Craig Castleberry of Broadway Baptist Church officiating. Mary Joan Garrett was born July 2, 1925, in Blackwell, the daughter of Glen T. and Mary Faye Hill Randall. She grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell schools and graduated in 1943. She then attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. She married Cleo Owen Garrett on Jan.
Memorial service for Mary Janice (Andrews) Brauer, age 80, of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 20, 2009, in the Epworth United Methodist Church. Rev. Mary Janice was born the daughter of Foster Findley F.F."" Andrews and Lutie Lee Lindsey Andrews on September 19, 1928, in Anadarko, Oklahoma. She died on April 16, 2009 in Chickasha. Janice was born and raised in Anadarko.
Funeral service for Mary Jane Guinn Bartlett, age 81 of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 28, 2009, in the Bible Baptist Church. Rev. Mike Butler will officiate and Rev. Kim Hayes will assist. Mary Jane was born the daughter of Otis Crawford Brasiel and Bertha Quattlebaum Brasiel on July 24, 1927, in Meeker, Oklahoma. She died on May 25, 2009, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Mary Jane lived in the Minco-Cogar area most of her life and later moved to the farm north of Verden. She worked as a cook in the cafeteria at USAO for many years until retiring in 1995.
Roadstrum, Mary Helen Mary Helen Roadstrum, formerly of Holden, passed on December 4, in Atlanta, Georgia. Mrs. Roadstrum was born Mary Helen Pryor in Ardmore, Oklahoma and was the wife of the late WPI Professor William Henry Roadstrum. Mrs. Roadstrum is survived by two daughters, Ruth Kraner of Palmetto, Florida and Martha Moffett of St. Paul, Minnesota. Mrs. Roadstrum is a graduate of Oklahoma College for Women, with a degree in home economics, and organ. She taught home economics in public school.
