Margaret (Lewis) Lowe, 89, a long time resident of Bartlesville passed away September 6, 2009 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Tulsa after a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, September 9 at the First United Methodist Church in Bartlesville with Rev. Buz Wierick officiating. Interment will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory. Friends who wish may call for visitation at Stumpff Funeral Home Tuesday evening until 9 p.m. and on Wednesday morning from 9 a.m. until 12 Noon.
Harris, Margaret Elkouri Margaret Elkouri Harris 88, passed away on February 26, 2008. She was born on October 23, 1919 in Byron, Oklahoma to David and Adel Elkouri. She graduated from Snyder High School and the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha. Margaret married Exton Harris on April 7, 1946 and worked for many years before becoming a stay at home mom. Immediately prior to her retirement, she served as the periodicals librarian at Oklahoma City University. During her retirement years, she excelled at being 'Grandmother', and she loved to read.
Adult Educator and Community Leader Margaret Baird Gaffney passed away peacefully on July 16, 2008, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, in Manitowoc, WI. Born in Chicago, IL on August 26, 1924, the cherished daughter of Rile A. Baird and Laurie Madge Mason, Margaret was raised in Oklahoma City. She was a direct descendant of many who fought in the American Revolution, including Major Elihu Kent, who commanded a company of minutemen who responded to the Lexington Alarm.
Margaret Ann Hamilton Tunner, 92, died Oct. 13, 2009, surrounded by family at her home Hockley Farm on the Ware River, Gloucester County, Va., where she and her late husband, Lt. Gen. W. H. Tunner, retired in 1958. Mrs. Tunner was born in Enid, Okla., Sept. 3, 1917, and attended Oklahoma College for Women and Oklahoma University. She became a private pilot through a Civilian Pilot Training Program of Tulsa University and purchased and flew her own J-3 Piper cub prior to joining the Women's Air Force Service Pilots program (WASP).
Lund, Margabel (Marge) 83, went to be with the Lord April 23, 2008. Marge was born on January 28, 1925, in Lawton, OK. She received her teaching degree from the Oklahoma College for Women and worked as a Physical Education teacher in Lawton. In 1949 she moved to Tulsa and obtained her Masters degree from the University of Tulsa. She worked for Tulsa Public Schools as a teacher at Horace Mann and Roosevelt Junior High Schools and a counselor at Byrd Elementary. She retired in 1984 and received many awards throughout her teaching career.
Marcy Belew Funeral services and interment for former Seminole resident Marcy (Marcelene) Hill Belew were held on Monday at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel in Corpus Christi, Texas. Marcy, beloved mother and grandmother, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 3, 2007. Marcy was born to Walter and Laura Lorena Hill in Bristow, Okla., and was raised in Seminole. She attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Okla., studying piano and organ. Marcy received numerous national piano competition honors.
Madonna Rosemary Cook, age 89, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away August 29, 2008, at Mercy Health Center in Oklahoma City. Madonna was born March 2, 1919, in Crossroads, Delaware County, Indiana, to Crystal and Claude Stewart. Madonna moved to Clinton, Oklahoma, from Indiana at the age of 8, where she graduated from high school. She then attended Oklahoma College for Women, now USAO, for two years. She transferred to the University of Oklahoma after meeting and eventually marrying Max Cook, a law student at the University of Oklahoma.
M. Elizabeth Roddy Stanford, 95, died June 3, 2007, at SunBridge Care Center, Nampa. Memorial services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, at the First Congregational Church in Nampa (55 S. Midland Blvd.), with the Rev. Dr. Douglas Yarbrough to officiate. Burial will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel, Nampa; 466-3545. Beth Stanford was born March 26, 1912, in Caldwell, where she attended Caldwell schools.
Lynn R. O'Daniel, age 59, died July 23, 2008 of cardiac arrest after a long battle with multiple myloma cancer. Lynn was the son of Howard and Viola O'Daniel and was born and reared in Minco, Oklahoma. He graduated from Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts with a Business degree. He was a Veteran with the Oklahoma Air National Guard, 137th Unit. He worked for over 30 years for Emery Air Freight and its affiliates. He lived in Dallas but spent most of his time and energy at his home on Piney Woods Lake near Frankston. An avid and gifted gardner he was President- Elect of the Anderson Co.
