We now live in the 21st century in which graduates need to be more literate with regard to mathematical and scientific principles, and computer technology. USAO strives, therefore, for graduates who have a strong ethical sense and an understanding of how mathematics and science interface with the other components of the liberal arts. Majors include biology, chemistry, computer science, mathematics, natural science, and physics.
Programs of study in business and the social sciences division include business administration (with courses in accounting, general business and management), as well as American Indian Studies, Geography, History, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology.
The arts and humanities come together at USAO under one academic division, led by Dr. Brenda Brown, Professor of English, who serves as Chair. The division includes the fields of art, drama, English (with minors in French and Spanish), and music. Also in this division, USAO offers enrichment courses in philosophy and religion.
