Special Olympics is offered as an Independent Study course in the first 5 week period of each summer term. The purpose is to provide USAO students the opportunity to work directly with children who have disabilities by participating in each day of the three-day Special Olympics Summer Games held on the Oklahoma State University campus in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

SLPA 1143 is the study of the phonemes of American English. The course serves to familiarize students with the dynamic aspects of speech production, articulatory and acoustic phonetics, the International Phonetic Alphabet, and diacritic markers necessary for narrow transcription.

John Morris Clinic

The John Morris Speech and Language Clinic is located on the campus of USAO in Gary Hall. This facility serves pediatric clients with varying types of  communication disorders.

During their senior year, students are required to work directly with clients who have communication disorders, under the close supervision of ASHA-supervised speech-language pathologists.
