George Mark Wallace, 51, of Las Vegas, Nev. passed away Friday, Jan. 21, 2011 at his home following a lengthy illness. Mark was born in Miami, Okla. Feb. 6, 1959 to John D. Cob and Patty Wallace. He graduated from Commerce High School in 1977 and later on went to and graduated from University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha, Okla. He is survived by a sister, Kelly Rion and husband Lonnie of Mound Valley, Kan.; and Paula Zimmerman Tahista of Las Vegas, Nev. Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Patty Wallace, in May 1997, and father, John D. Cob Wallace in November 2001.
Graveside service for Gaye Lavenia (Hill) Blackburn, 61, of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Ninnekah Cemetery. Gaye Lavenia (Hill) Blackburn was born December 24, 1949 in Chickasha, Oklahoma the daughter of Leon William and Dorothea Mae (Snell) Hill. She died February 22, 2011 in Chickasha. Gaye lived in Chickasha her entire life. She graduated from Chickasha High School in 1968 and attended USAO. She and Steve Blackburn were married October 15, 1971 in Chickasha.
Frankie Edna Ford Jorgenson went home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ and her beloved A.J. on Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at Wilkins Nursing Center in Duncan. She is now free from the pain of this earthly body and singing a strong alto beside A.J.’s baritone in the heavenly choir. Frankie was born on Aug. 6, 1929, in the community of Arthur to Inez and Hardy Ford. She grew up and went to school at Arthur through eighth grade. They moved into town in 1942, across from Immanuel Baptist church. She began attending church at Immanuel, where she gave her heart to the Lord and was baptized.
Frances Jane Mahone (Janie) from Chickasha died Thursday, the 24th day of February 2011 at Carmel Health and Living Center in Carmel, IN. Born in 1951, Janie attended Chickasha Public Schools and received her Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from USAO in 1997. Janie was a loving mother and grandmother who, above all else, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed photography, writing poetry, and reading. She loved animals and was rarely without a loyal pet by her side.
I wanted to let you that my godmother, Frances G. Felton, PhD, died March 8, 2010 after a brief illness. She was 91. She was an OCW class of 39 and Hall of Fame honeree. She and my other godmother, OCW class of 39, Crystil Jeck, were the reason I attended USAO. They became college roommates and remained so until Crystil's death about 20 years ago. OU sent Frances a letter May 2008 honoring the 50th anniversary of her earned PhD in Microbiology.

Ethel Lea Foote, 85, of Idaho Falls, passed away Sept. 22, 2010, at her home after a long courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Lea was born April 5, 1925, in Hennepin, Okla., to Viva and Lloyd Ball. She was the sixth of 10 children. She grew up in Oklahomaand played basketball for OklahomaCollegefor Women. She married Riley Franklin Foote on June 2, 1946, in Fort Sill, Okla.They moved to Idaho Fallsin 1952, where Riley took a job with the Atomic Energy Commission. Lea and Riley had two children, Anna Lea and Ernest Riley. Ernie was killed in 1976, and Riley died from leukemia in 1978.
Erma Ruth (McDowell) Cassel, of El Reno, passed away Monday, December 20, 2010. Erma was born September 13, 1907 to Edgar Eugene and Nettie Susan McDowell on a farm north of Verden. Erma was proud to be a "Statehood" baby born the year Oklahoma became a state. Erma graduated from the Oklahoma College for Women (now USAO) in Chickasha. Erma taught school before marrying Elbert Cassel on December 10, 1932 and becoming a homemaker on a farm in the community of Verden.
Dorothy Bernice McDole, 92, died on Nov. 14, 2010 in Stillwater, Okla. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 22, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church in Stillwater with Reverend Stan Warfield officiating. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. She was born on June 12, 1918 in Paoli, Okla. to D. Lee and Susie Joe Thompson. She married Donald William Vest in 1941 in Pauls Valley, Okla. He preceded her in death in 1959. She married Robert Daniel McDole in 1964 in Stillwater, Okla. He also preceded her in death in 1990.
Doris M. Fleming, 85, passed away on February 13, 2011 in Wichita Falls. A Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 PM. Thursday, February 17, 2011 in Crestview Cemetery with Dr. Dan Garza, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunns Colonial Funeral Home. Doris was born December 17, 1925 to Herman and Irene (Manahan) Stone in Ada, Oklahoma. Doris graduated from Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City. She attended the Oklahoma College for Women, now named, the University of Science and Arts in Chickasha, Oklahoma.
Donna E. Guthrie, 65, of Shawnee, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, at a local hospital. Donna was born Sept. 5, 1945, in Paris, Texas, to Othol Elmer and Cecelia Felista (Graf) Newman. She earned B.S. degree from USAO in Chickasha. She married Edward Wayne Guthrie July 24, 1965, in the Old Post Chapel in Ft. Sill. Ed and Donna made their home in Lawton until Ed went to Vietnam in 1965-66. Donna then moved to Chickasha to finish her education. She taught school in Chickasha for a while and moved to Shawnee in 1975. Donna is a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
