Drovers overrun the Bronchos

CHICKASHA – In a game filled with shots for the highlight reel, the Drover men defeated NCAA Division II No. 11 University of Central Oklahoma in USAO’s home opener Wednesday night.

The score was 6-5 when senior Kyle Hunt kick started the offense with a crowd-pleasing dunk off an assist by Phillip Harris. The Drovers dominated the first half from then on.

At halftime, USAO led 48-31. While UCO outscored the Drovers in the second half, they were not able to grab enough and the Drovers won 87-73.

Showband promises variety in fall concert

The USAO Showband gears up for its upcoming Fall concert beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 18 in Te Ata Memorial Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public. For more information about the concert, call (405) 574-1318.

On the heels of a year spent playing Western swing, the USAO Showband is happy to return to its roots – playing a little bit of something for everyone in the audience.

The USAO Showband is scheduled to perform an eclectic collection of American classics at 7:30 on Nov. 18 in Te Ata Memorial Auditorium.

Big win sends Drovers to first-ever SAC Finals

BETHANY – A big win over No. 25 Southern Nazarene sends the Drovers to the Sooner Athletic Conference Finals for the first time in the women’s program’s history.

USAO defeated the Crimson Storm in the SAC Semifinals 2-0.

“I’m so proud and happy for the women,” Coach Jimmy Hampton said. “I give all the credit to them.”

Excited to be in their first Semifinal match and eager to best SNU, who’d beat them in the regular season, the Drovers came out strong, and junior Calli Cooper knocked one in just four minutes into the game. Jordyn Yates had the assist.

Barros named last SAC Player of the Week

CHICKASHA – After a helping lead the back line all season, highlighted with a shutout in the Sooner Athletic Conference Quarterfinals, Gabby Barros was named the SAC’s final Defensive Player of the Week.

The defender has been instrumental all season in helping the Drovers achieve a 13-5 overall record and the program’s first SAC Semifinal appearance after the quarterfinal win on Saturday.

In that game, Barros and the Drovers held Mid-America Christian to just two shots on goal in the 105 minutes of action. The Drovers ended up winning the game in double overtime 1-0.
