Jazz ensemble brings in season with holiday concert

Two Drovers named Champions of Character

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – The weekend extra special to two Drovers, who were recognized by their teams and the NAIA as being the definition of a Champion of Character.

Seniors defenders Annie Zoch and John Gardner were named 2011 NAIA Champions of Character this weekend during their national tournament opening round trips.

Each NAIA National Tournament team nominates a player who exemplifies the NAIA motto of strong character and its five core values: integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership.

Repeat: Drovers head back to Orange Beach

MARSHALL, MO. – The last five minutes of Saturday evening’s game determined a repeat NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship final site appearance for the Drover men.

A win 2-0 over the ninth-seeded Missouri Valley Vikings earned the Drovers a spot in the second round – the round of 16 – for the second year in a row.

“It was a great game,” Coach Jimmy Hampton said. “The boys played well versus a good side at their home.”

Setting the standard

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – The history books have been written in Chickasha.

The 2011 Drover women won the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship and represented the university in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round against No. 4 Point Loma Nazarene in San Diego, Calif.

After a tough 90 minutes on Saturday afternoon, the Drovers fell to the physical, highly-ranked Sea Lions 3-0 to end the season.

Preparing to play like a family

SAN DIEGO, CALIF. – Thursday morning, the Drover women hopped on an airplane – some for the first time – to travel to the West Coast to take on the biggest challenge of their playing careers.

After hours of traveling, the Drovers have spent their time in San Diego, Calif., preparing and practicing for No. 4 Point Loma Nazarene in the 2011 NAIA Women’s Soccer National Championship Opening Round. Kick off is scheduled for 1 p.m. CST on Saturday.

‘We could be looking in a mirror’

MARSHALL, MO. – The season started off rocky. The Drover men lost their season opener. A few games later, they were 2-2. But then it all changed.

A week before the regular season ended, the Drover men had already clinched the regular season Sooner Athletic Conference title. They want on to claim the SAC Tournament Championship as well.
