Communication, by its very nature, is interdisciplinary, requiring a broad understanding of human behavior; an awareness of the vast diversity, as well as the strong similarities, among humans and human cultures; the global nature of how humans are connected to each other; and the critical need to communicate accurately and ethically.
The successful artist needs to develop personal qualities in three important areas: intellectual, philosophical, and technical strength; a liberal arts/“world view” educational background; and self-assured, creative, problem-solving ability. USAO’s art discipline created its program of studies around these three basic tenets. Our professionally staffed art courses are specifically designed to teach the visual language in a logical sequence. This program reinforces and broadens one's professional education, preparing students for successful careers.
