CHICKASHA – Home field advantage, a lot of heart and a pair of goals is all it took to send the Drovers on to the next round of the NAIA Men’s Soccer National Championship as they shut out Grand View 2-0 in the Opening Round.
“The team competed hard and played hard for each other,” USAO head coach Jimmy Hampton said after the game. “I’m real proud of our boys as they make their own identity.”
CHICKASHA – Respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship. These are the qualities of a true Champion of Character, and they are the qualities of USAO’s lone senior, Kris Andrews.
Andrews was named one of the 32 NAIA Champions of Character on Friday night at a banquet honoring the USAO Drovers and the Grand View Vikings.
Linda Sevier Feb. 18, 1945 - Oct. 24, 2012 Funeral service for Linda Sevier, 67, of Chickasha, will be held 1:30 p.m., Monday, Oct. 29, 2012 at the First Baptist Church, Chickasha. Linda was born Feb. 18, 1945 in Chickasha, to Gaylord and Norma (Pruner) Knowles. She lived her entire life within the city limits of Chickasha. She graduated from Chickasha High School with honors in 1963. She attended and graduated from USAO with a double major in speech therapy and deaf education in 1966.
Linda Sue Miller, 63, of Mountain View, OK passed away on Sunday, October 14th, 2012 after an extended illness. She was born on April 27, 1949 in Carnegie, OK to Troy Bill and Opal Pauline (Flinn) Miller. She grew up in the Mountain View area and graduated from Mountain View High School in 1967. She received her bachelors degree from USAO in Chickasha, OK . She earned her master’s degree from Ohio State University. She worked towards attaining her PHD while living in San Antonio, TX. She worked at the V.A. Center in San Antonio, TX where she was a counselor.
Leon Joseph "Bo" Carter lll, 50 of Anadarko, Oklahoma passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was born September 21, 1962 to Leon Joseph Carter Jr. and Frankie Ware in Lawton, Oklahoma. He was a graduate of Broxton High School with the class of 1980. He attended USAO in Chickasha where he received an Associates Degree in Art. He received his Realtor License, his CMA Degree and had worked in the Silver Crest Nursing Home in Anadarko, the nursing home at Cyril and Chickasha. He was very talented and had a great sense of humor.
NORMAN - Joseph Charles “Joe” Myers, 53, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012. Services will be 2 p.m. today at Chisholm Heights Baptist Church in Mustang, with interment in Independence Cemetery east of Norman. He was born April 24, 1959, in San Antonio to James E. and Elia C. (Sifuentez) Myers. His early years were spent in San Antonio, Clovis, N.M., and Noble. He was a graduate of Noble High School and had a degree in secondary education from USAO.
Evelyn Bass ENID - Funeral for Evelyn Bass will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at The Redeemer Lutheran Church. The Rev. Thomas House, pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Service is under direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home. Evelyn was born November 6, 1928, in Lone Wolf, OK, the daughter of Leo and Hanna Schreiner Thur, and passed into eternal life November 7, 2012. She was a graduate and valedictorian of Lone Wolf High School in 1946.
