CHICKASHA – USAO grabbed two more conference wins in a doubleheader against Mid-America Christian on Thursday afternoon at Bill Smith Ballpark.
The Drovers (24-23, 5-17) started off having to fight from behind after giving up a run in the first inning of the first game.
Taking the lead in the third, the Drovers scored three runs. First, pitcher Morgan Bratcher singled to left field. The following batter, Jessica Horton, who is coming off an ACL injury, hit another single, advancing to second on the attempted throw out of Bratcher, who arrived safely at third.
Dr. Stephen Weber, professor of music and chairman of the Arts and Humanities division at USAO, presents the first of two concerts showcasing the hymn tradition beginning at 3 p.m. on May 5 at Epworth United Methodist Church. The event is free and open to the public. Weber will travel to Switzerland later in the month to reprise the same material in the homeland of his ancestors.
Musician, composer and teacher Dr. Stephen Weber celebrates the rich history of hymns with a pipe organ concert scheduled to begin at 3 p.m. on May 5 at Epworth United Methodist Church in Chickasha.
CHICKASHA – Rattled with injuries and a short staff, the Drover softball team took a little longer than expected to get their stride, but junior Markie LaFerney says that part of the season is behind them.
“We played a lot of our conference games toward the beginning and a lot of people didn’t have to do that. That was when everybody was coming out really strong … and that’s when we were struggling,” she said. “We were trying to make adjustments and they were all ready to go.”
