CHICKASHA – Senior Heath Wilda has been an instrumental part of Drover baseball’s record-breaking season but remains humble about his role in it all.
In a Sunday afternoon home doubleheader, the Drovers tied and then beat the school’s wins record, which was set in 2009. Being a part of the experience, Wilda said, was special for him and his teammates.
“It was a really good experience. Us 16 seniors were really excited to do it for the seniors,” Wilda said. “We were excited to get that 38th win.”
CHICKASHA – The Drovers enter the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament seeded sixth in their third conference tournament appearance in a row.
The tournament, which spans two days, begins at 11 a.m. Friday at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium in Oklahoma City.
“If we come out with a solid defense and exploding bats like I know we can, we will make a tough run through the tournament,” Head Coach Jadyn Smith-Wallis said. “And that’s exactly what we are prepared to do.”
