Metcalf named Drover head coach

CHICKASHA – After nearly 15 seasons with the Drovers, coach Vinson Metcalf has taken the reins after being named head coach of the USAO men’s basketball program on Thursday.

“First and foremost, I’d like to give all praises to my lord and savior Jesus Christ,” Metcalf said. “I am so ecstatic to be the head men’s basketball coach at USAO. I know there are responsibilities that come with it, but I am ready.”

Galer receives Staff Achievement award

USAO Security Officer George Galer was awarded the Regents Staff Achievement Award. Galer was named honoree for the third quarter of the 2012-13.

Two local events guaranteed to entertain local visitors – the annual Relay For Life and a vintage car show – are scheduled to intersect on June 7 on the Oval at the University of Science and Arts.

Former OCLA president Dr. Robert Martin dies at 85

Presiding over one of the most innovative and tumultuous periods in university history, Dr. Robert Martin shepherded the establishment of many of the institutions that make the University of Science and Arts what it is today in his four-year tenure as president. Martin died May 27 at his home in Norman. He was 85.
