Chef Dan Barber is a restaurateur and a food consciousness and sustainability author and advocate. He was named one of Time Magazine’s “Top 100 Most Influential People” in 2009. With a passion for food consciousness, he was appointed by President Barack Obama to serve on the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition. Barber opened his restaurant, Blue Hill, in 2000. Since then, he has received the James Beard Awards for Best Chef: New York City in 2006 and Outstanding Chef in 2009.
CHICKASHA – USAO softball will host its inaugural summer camp, a two-day intensive softball training camp open to youth ages 8 to 18.
USAO Softball Camp, directed by head softball coach Jadyn Wallis, is scheduled for July 23 and 24.
“We are really excited about the first year of the USAO Softball Camp.” Wallis said. “We will teach young athletes the fundamentals and mechanics that it takes to become the athlete they desire to be.”
CHICKASHA – The Drovers now have two players from the 2013 baseball squad who will be playing professional ball this year after Brian Vigo, USAO’s starting center fielder, signed as a free agent with the Saint Louis Cardinals franchise this week.
Vigo told USAO head coach Mike Ross that the franchise officials called him and asked him to sign as a free agent. He signed on the dotted line on Wednesday and already arrived in Pennsylvania to begin.
