CHICKASHA – In their first 8-kilometer race of the season, the Drover men came out looking to tackle a hilly course against stiff competition, racing among 153 competitors at the OSU Cowboy Jamboree on Saturday in Stillwater.
The Drovers, who have now completed three races this season, ran a 4-mile and a 6-kilometer race this season. The Jamboree was their first 8-kilometer, which translates to nearly five miles. The race attracts runners from all over the area, including schools in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas.
CHICKASHA – Just two meets into the 2013 cross country season and runners on both the men’s and the women’s team continue to improve their times. Captain Deborah Park, a sophomore on the squad, said the season is off to a great start.
“The season is going really, really well. It was quite a challenge last year. It was my first semester in school and in cross country,” Park said. “After first semester, I’ve learned so much … so we are really improving on how to practice and what’s good for us.”
