Tough overtime battle ends in loss

CHICKASHA – The Drovers had a rough game on their hands Sunday afternoon with Our Lady of the Lake, a team that is receiving votes in the NAIA national poll.

The struggle led to the Drovers’ (1-1) first loss in the regular season in two years.

Our Lady of the Lake University beat the Drovers 2-1 in the 93rd minute of the game off a goal just inside the penalty box. OLLU’s Giovani Serria scored the goal off an assist by Elias Cortes. Serria was the leading shooter for the Saints in the game.

CHICKASHA – Two games into the 2013 season and the Drover women have headed into overtime in both games. And, unfortunately for the young team, have fallen twice.

In the final minute of Sunday afternoon’s game, a last-minute shot fell into the goal for Our Lady of the Lake.

Drovers (0-2) went into the game looking for win No. 1 of the 2013 season, but ultimately the Saints offense was too much for the Drovers, who fell 3-2.

In the back and forth game, both teams traded goals until the Saints scored two unanswered goals to win the game.
