CHICKASHA – The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma had sophomore Sami Martin grab a career-high 24 points in a Monday night contest but ultimately, the Drovers came up short against new conference foe Texas Wesleyan.
The Drovers (3-6, 2-4) fell to the Lady Rams with a final score of 98-63 on the road.
Martin grabbed her point total on 60 percent shooting from the field, including 5-for-9 beyond the arc. She also led the team with six rebounds and had three assists in the game to come in second on the team.
CHICKASHA – The Drovers looked to exact revenge on new conference foe Southwestern Assemblies of God for a first round exit in the 2013 NAIA National Championship tournament but were unable to overcome the powerful Lions on Saturday.
The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (5-7, 2-3) did, however, give No. 2 SAGU (12-1, 5-0) a scare on the road before too many runs led to a 80-71 loss for the Drovers.
Going into the half only down by two, the game kept its back-and-forth pace until several 10-0 runs made the USAO deficit grow.
CHICKASHA – The University of Science and Arts played a strong second half to cut a halftime deficit, but were unable to finish the comeback on the road against Southwestern Assemblies of God, falling 78-54 in the end.
In the second half, USAO (3-5, 2-3) shot 33 percent from the field, while SAGU (8-7, 2-3) shot 39 percent in the second half to capture the win.
The Drovers had two players in double figures with sophomore Sami Martin leading the way with 12 and senior Brittany Elkins with 11.
