George Austin Award for Campus Leadership

The purpose of this award is to recognize an outstanding Junior or Senior who has exemplified leadership on campus by enhancing co-curricular activities and service at USAO. The award, which is accompanied by a monetary stipend of $500, is not necessarily given to the student with the most club memberships. We are looking for your work as a student leader, including serving as an officer in student clubs, organizing and managing events, serving as a team leader on group projects, establishing new community-campus partnerships, and nurturing the leadership skills of other students.

This award requires two letters of recommendation: Letters of recommendation can be submitted to the Student Services office and must be received by 5:00pm on Friday March 15th, 2013.

Letters of recommendation are a very important component of your application. Although it is acceptable to submit letters from individuals who can praise your efforts on a single project, it is better to seek recommendations from people who are familiar with your overall leadership abilities and experiences, such as your academic advisor, student services administrators and staff, or faculty members.
