Outstanding Student Organization Advisor Award

At USAO, organization advisors play a vital role in the development of student leaders and student groups. This award will recognize an advisor who goes above and beyond to assist their student organization(s). Nominees should display high involvement with their organization(s), dedication to the campus community and assist with the leadership development of group members. They should be available to students and serve as a valuable resource. The Outstanding Student Organization Advisor Award will recognize one of these individuals for their service to and support of USAO students and organizations.

Nominees will be evaluated on the following:

  • Demonstrated outstanding support for and advisement of a student organization in pursuit of its goals
  • Ability to motivate students
  • Ability to foster teamwork
  • Length of service to organization(s)

Only current student organization presidents of officially recognized USAO student organizations may nominate advisors for this award.  By submitting this form, you are certifying that you meet these qualifications. 

Nominees must be the advisor on record of a recognized and registered student organization at USAO during the 2012/2013 academic trimesters, and have served as an advisor on a volunteer basis (not a mandatory requirement within the functions of staff/faculty's position.) Student Services Staff members are not eligible.

  1. Describe why this person is deserving of this award. How has he/she been an example for other student organizations’ advisors in providing support and advisement of a student organization.
  2. Describe in detail the role of the student organization advisor in your organization, highlighting specific responsibilities or functions that the advisor performs in order to motivate students and foster teamwork. Please give examples.
  3. Describe an example of a time or experience in which the advisor has gone “above and beyond the call of duty” to actively serve the students and the goal of your organization.
