The University of Science of Arts of Oklahoma is proud to announce the pending arrival of our Fall 2011 Festival of Arts and Ideas. This season's theme is The Great Minds and will provide numerous presentations and performances celebrating the people who impress, influence, and inspire us.
Each night, Tuesday, Oct. 11 and Thursday, Oct. 13, will feature four short excursions into the life and ideas of a person or people who reshaped the way we see the world and, in some cases, the course of history. These vignettes will include traditional lectures as well as musical performances, multimedia presentations, dramatic interpretations and, in one case, a bowling ball being dropped from the ceiling.
Some of the Great Minds under consideration will include Henry Cowell, Leonardo da Vinci, Emily Dickinson, Albert Einstein, Richard Feynman, Gottfried Leibniz, Aldo Leopold, Michelangelo, Christina Rossetti, Adam Smith and William Butler Yeats.
The presenters are Steve Breerwood, the USAO Concert Choir, Russell Cunningham, Jefferson Gray, Dr. Jan Hanson, Dr. Jerry Hargis, Courtney Mayall, JD Meyer, Stephanie Morris, Dr. Shelly Rees, Dr. Darryel Reigh, Dr. J. C. Sanders, Rob Vollmar, Matthew Watson, Dr. Stephen Weber and Alicia Working.
Each evening's festivities begin at 7:30 p.m. in the USAO Ballroom, located on the second floor of the Student Center in Chickasha.
USAO is happy to provide this Festival of Arts and Ideas at no cost to the public thanks to the USAO Foundation and other generous sponsors. We hope that each of you enjoy the presentations and workshops as much as we have in preparing them.
