Mission underway

3-2-1 blast off!

The committee I created to increase attendance at our basketball games (see previous note) had its first meeting, and I think it went really well. I was surprised at the number of people who showed up because I hadn't heard back from a few of them. We had almost everyone there (the few who were missing were out of town or otherwise unavailable). The group brainstormed ideas, then we talked about options, and then discussed the sensitive topic of budget.

A few of the ideas we came up with - such as White Out Night and other theme nights - won't cost us a thing. But most of them, like giveaways and such, we need to get some money for. I think we're going to have to get creative and we'll have to get a lot of support from local businesses. It's all do-able, and the team I've assembled seems really eager to help and share my feelings of importance of the issue.

We didn't make any decisions really. I meant for the meeting to be very preliminary ("Let's discuss our ideas and then have some time to mull over them.") and it was. We're going to meet in a few weeks to get a set budget and start prioritizing our ideas. Then the next step is simply (ha, simply!) execution!
