USAO offers two degree tracks in music:
1. Bachelor of Arts in Music Education
2. Bachelor of Arts in Music
-with an Emphasis in Performance
-with an Emphasis in Studio Teaching
-with an Emphasis in Fine and Performing Arts
-with an Emphasis in Music Business
Bachelor of Arts in Music Education
The Bachelor of Arts in Music Education is ideal for students that want to become public music school teachers. The degree leads to PreK-12 music certification in the state of Oklahoma. The Bachelor of Arts in Music Education involves completion of the Interdisciplinary Studies Core, the Teacher Education core, and music coursework. All students pursuing this degree select either choral/vocal music or instrumental music as an area of emphasis. Students also choose a principal applied instrument on which they perform a Senior Recital or project. Teacher education requirements include one trimester of Student Teaching. At least 2 trimesters of summer enrollment are necessary to complete all of the degree within 4 years.

The Bachelor of Arts in Music
The Bachelor of Arts in Music is a liberal arts degree in music in which students may choose an area of emphasis: Performance, Studio Teaching, or Fine and Performing Arts. The performance emphasis is not a professional performance degree, but is suited for students who plan to pursue graduate study in music, who want to pursue careers in music or music-related careers, who want to serve as music leaders or arts advocates in churches or communities, or who want to complete a liberal arts degree in preparation for a professional graduate degree. The Studio Teaching emphasis is designed for students who want to establish teaching studios or plan to pursue graduate work in music education or pedagogy. The Fine and Performing Arts emphasis is suited to students who have an interest in all the arts and their interrelatedness. The Bachelor of Arts in Music requires completion of the IDS core, music coursework, and "emphasis" coursework in disciplines related to the specialization. Under normal circumstances this degree can be completed in four years.

Minor in Music
USAO students majoring in other academic fields may choose to minor in music. The music minor is comprised of 19 credits of coursework, including music theory, a principal applied area, major ensemble enrollment, and The Enjoyment of Music.
