Our Mother and G-Mom, Betty Ann Curran, left this Earth on June 3, 2012, much to our grief and sadness, at the age of 86. Betty had a long and interesting life, beginning in Duncan, Okla., where she was born on March 27, 1926, to Harry and Sophie Hotchkiss. She graduated from Duncan High School in 1946, and spoke fondly of her time there playing the clarinet in the marching band. Following high school, she continued her education at Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Okla., taking secretarial classes and for fun, horseback riding.
Funeral service for Bessie Mae Cotton, age 97 of Chickasha, Oklahoma, will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 in the Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. Chuck Patterson will officiate. Bessie Mae was born the daughter of Daniel Edwards and Pirl Grow Edwards on Sept. 18, 1914 in Swink. She died on July 21, 2012 in Chickasha. Bessie attended Lucile School, east of Chickasha, and lived in the Chickasha area all of her life. She married Raymond Dillard Cotton on May 10, 1933 in Chickasha. Bessie worked in a sewing factory, cafT, and cotton gin early in her life.
Becky Graham was born on November 5, 1916 in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to Guy Spencer Mitchell and Rebecca Ruth Dickerson and went to be with our Lord on May 15, 2012 in Plano, Texas at the age of 95 years. She graduated from Wynnewood High School in 1934 and attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Oklahoma. Becky was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Linda Graham Miller, her son Mike Graham and his wife Peggy Graham.
May 08, 1919 - July 07, 2012- Audrey Juanita (Bennett) Moore, 93, of Huntsville passed away Saturday. Born in Doyle, Caddo County, Oklahoma to Ralph Ivin and Elizabeth Genevieve (Cain) Bennett, she graduated from Mangum Oklahoma High School in 1937. She was a member of the first graduating class of Mangum Jr. College in 1939 and then attended Oklahoma College for Women.
Alta Marie Redmond was born on June 2, 1926 in Kingston, OK to Charles and Callie Kizziar. She was the 6th of seven children and the last of her generation, passing on July 16, 2012. She grew up on a farm near Madill and graduated from Madill High School with honors. She attended Oklahoma College for Women before marrying Robert F. Redmond. Alta Marie was an officer in the PTA at Eugene Field Elementary as well as a Brownie Scout Leader. She volunteered and worked tirelessly for United Cerebral Palsy and was a member of the Governors' Committee on Disabilities.
A memorial service for Alfa B. Dutton Sasser, 86, of Edmond, Okla., will be 11 a.m., Monday, May 14, 2012, at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond. Alfa passed away May 3, 2012, in Edmond. Alfa was born June 23, 1925, in Fletcher, Okla., to George W. and Ruthie (Leonard) Dutton, and moved with her family to Chickasha in 1927. She graduated from Chickasha High School in 1942, attended Oklahoma College for Women her freshman year, and then attended the University of Oklahoma where she received her BS in Accounting in 1947. She married the Rev. C. W. Sasser, Jr., of Lawton, Okla.
Judy Page Spencer, age 74, of Louisville, Kentucky, formerly of Mangum, passed away early Wednesday morning, November 30, 2011, in Louisville. Mrs. Spencer was born in Mangum, Oklahoma on December 19, 1936, to Dewitt and Rachel (Robertson) Chitwood. An only child, Judy graduated as the 1954, Class Valedictorian of Mangum High School. In 1957, she graduated from the Oklahoma College for Women and began her first job working for the Texas Fashions Magazine in Dallas, Texas. While working in Dallas, she met Perry H.
Cora Pauline Freeman was born on March 31, 1921 in Velma, Okla., to Felin S. Snow and Viola Reeves Snow. She passed from this life on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 in Stillwater, Okla., having reached the age of 91 years, and four days. She married Floyd H. Freeman on March 27, 1943 in El Reno, Okla., and he preceded her in death on Oct. 7, 2004. She attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, and worked as a bookkeeper for the United Community Action Program Headstart for twenty-seven years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pawnee.
Funeral Mass for Mary Pauline Reed Frey, 95, of Chickasha, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at the Holy Name Catholic Church. Mary Pauline Reed Frey died peacefully on March 24, 2012 at the home of her daughter in Wichita, Kan., where she had been living for the last year. She was the fourth child of seven born to William Washington Reed and Lela Turner Reed on July 3, 1916 in Oklahoma City. She was educated in Oklahoma City and graduated from Classen High School in 1934. Her family moved to Chickasha where she attended Oklahoma College for Women (USAO).
Roberta Boone (Hutson) "Bobbie" Wilson died on March 12, 2012, at the age of 81 after suffering a stroke. She was in Tucson, Ariz., with her husband of 61 years at her side. Bobbie was born on Oct. 3, 1930, in Hobart, Okla., the daughter of Kathryn (Boon) Hutson and Percy Hutson. After graduating from Chickasha High School, she attended the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha for two years, leaving to work for the local newspaper. She married her high-school sweetheart, James Allison Wilson (Jim) of Chickasha, Okla., on Oct. 12, 1950.
