More than 150 students, staff and faculty from the University of Science and Arts joined hundreds of volunteers citywide in building Kids’ Place at Centennial Park during the week of June 6-11. Citywide, more than $150,000 was raised in private donations to erect the park, designed by a committee of local children and volunteers.

Children who need academic or athletic challenges this summer can find them at the University of Science and Arts. Among the summer activities being offered on campus are sports camps, Artscope, a reading program, and swimming lessons.

OKLAHOMA CITY – John Feaver received a positive response – and applause -- when he presented to the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education his ambitious Mission Enhancement Plan on May 27. His plan seeks national prominence for the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha, where he has served as president since 2000.

Artscope – Chickasha’s creative summer camp unlike any other – is quickly approaching. Artscope is a summer arts day camp for children ages 8-12 and is scheduled on the USAO campus June 13-24. A limited number of spaces and scholarships are still available. All spaces and scholarships will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Join the Oklahoma Visual Arts Coalition and some of the Oklahoma Painting and Drawing Biennial award-winning artists, John Cox, F. Bradley Jessop and Sharon McCoy on June 7 at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma in Chickasha for an artist Symposium at 3:30pm. The event is free and open to the public.

Each artist will give a brief presentation about their work. The artists will also be available for questions from the audience. This is a great opportunity for all Oklahoma artists to hear and learn from other artists. It will be a forum for success!
