USAO Announces Spring Full of Music, Drama

CHICKASHA – Local community members should find no excuse for boredom this spring, now that the University of Science and Arts has released its spring performing arts lineup. With multiple concerts, recitals and performances planned for the new semester, Grady County and neighboring communities should have plenty to do to stay entertained.

"Oklahoma: Centerfold" Art Exhibit Opens January 15

Artists from across the nation competed with Oklahoma artists for the biennial “Oklahoma: Centerfold” art exhibit, one of the largest juried art shows in the state. Open Jan. 15 through Feb. 9 at the USAO Art Gallery, “Centerfold” features more than 40 original pieces from artists spanning the state and nation. USAO Alum and Former Chickasha Resident Grabs Emmy

CHICKASHA – Don Michael Jr. knows what it’s like to look out for his fellow man – and get rewarded for it. The University of Science and Arts alumnus and former Chickasha resident recently won an Emmy award for a campaign he helped create at a television station in Las Vegas.

Michael is the art director at KVBC, an NBC affiliate station, where he manages a staff of four designers who create graphics and animations for news, promotions and sales departments.

National Opera Singer Slated for USAO Concert Jan. 23

CHICKASHA – Some singers would faint at the thought of performing before a panel of world-renowned singers. Not Jeffrey Snider. In 2005, he placed second in a vocal competition judged by opera celebrities such as Placido Domingo.

No wonder Snider’s been called “one of the finest male soloists” ever to have performed “Carmina Burana.” On Jan. 23, the renowned baritone will bring his award-winning voice to the University of Science and Arts at 7:30 p.m. in the USAO Alumni Chapel.

USAO Spring Classes Begin Friday

CHICKASHA – With residence halls opening in anticipation of returning students, spring classes begin Friday at the University of Science and Arts in Chickasha.
