Roman History Professor Speaks at USAO March 7

CHICKASHA – When in Rome, Dr. Daniel Gargola may know how to do what the Romans do – or at least what the ancient ones did. The history professor from the University of Kentucky will give a special presentation March 7 at the University of Science and Arts at 2:30 p.m.

CHICKASHA – The 17th Street Players are taking a scandalous look at infidelity and life behind bedroom doors when they present a reader’s theatre performance of “Orange Flower Water” at the University of Science and Arts. The University’s drama club is staging the show March 2 in the Davis Hall Little Theatre at 8 p.m.

Collage-Making Workshop to Take Place March 3

Local artist Patricia Morgan is hosting a collage-making workshop at her home studio in Chickasha from 1-4 p.m. on March 3. For $15, students of all ages will learn collage techniques from the Chickasha High School art teacher. Each student will create an original collage to take home. The workshop is open to the public, but space is limited.

USAO Alum’s ‘Bluesman’ May See Silver Screen

CHICKASHA – In a time when comic book superheroes of every form and fashion are hitting movie theatres across the country, Hollywood’s newest antidote may come in the form of “Bluesman,” a gritty, southern guitarist with a song to sing and a story to tell. If writer Rob Vollmar has anything to do with it, his graphic novel’s character will make it all the way to the big screen.

Sophomore Art Show Open Through February 28

Oilton sophomore Tina Dymond is one of several artists whose works are on display at the University of Science and Arts. The annual Exhibition of the Academic Review for art sophomores is still in full swing on the third floor of Davis Hall through Feb. 28. The exhibit is free and open to the public. The Third Floor Art Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mon.-Fri.

USAO Sets Fast Pace with 24-Hour Drama Feb. 24

CHICKASHA –  Is it possible to cast, costume and stage a play, all in one day? Students, faculty and staff at the University of Science and Arts will attempt the first-ever feat beginning Feb. 23. A public performance of the spontaneous show is open to the public Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. in the Davis Hall Little Theatre.

CHICKASHA – Chickasha High School art teacher Patricia Herrera Morgan understands overcoming adversity to come out on top. The 1999 graduate from the University of Science and Arts is debuting her solo exhibit at the USAO Art Gallery with “Soul Windows.”
