CHICKASHA – Pouring rain and technical glitches couldn’t stop Team Nova from competing Wednesday morning in a national competition in robotics research. Computer scientist John K. Johnson and students at the University of Science and Arts welcomed a team from the U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).

Regents approved a new $12.25 million budget that reflects modest growth – 6.7 percent over last year – at the University of Science and Arts on Tuesday. While USAO’s state appropriation of $7.37 million will rise by $226,755 this fall, most of the new money will be seized by projected mandatory cost increases in insurance, utilities, and risk management of $204,647.

Three members of the faculty have distinguished themselves with awards from the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma Board of Regents.  Regents Chair Patti Rogstad presented two awards for superior teaching and one for research.

CHICKASHA – Twelve women are doing their part to raise money and awareness for the upcoming Chickasha Relay for Life, one swing at a time. Members of the University of Science and Arts Staff Association each pledged $100 toward the June 8 fundraiser on the USAO campus, vowing to help “knock cancer out of the ballpark.”
