CHICKASHA – For six nights in October, the University of Science and Arts is plunging into the life and times of one of history’s greatest composers, Johann Sebastian Bach, in an exciting festival filled with live music, guest speakers, video and more. USAO’s first “Festival of Music and Ideas” series event is scheduled Oct. 22-27.

CHICKASHA – More than 175 students at the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma achieved a grade point average of 3.5 or greater during the summer 2007 semester and were named to the university’s honor rolls, USAO admissions officials have announced.

University records show 122 students were named to the USAO Honor Roll and 60 students were named to the Regents Honor Roll. Honor roll students represent three countries and 11 states.

CHICKASHA – As an actor, Lonnie Iannazzo understands stepping into the shoes of actors before him when playing familiar roles. But the communication senior at the University of Science and Arts is in uncharted territory this weekend as he plays not only one, but eight characters in “The Grimsby Curse,” a metro play written specifically for him.

CHICKASHA – Oklahoma art educators are joining faculty and alumni for a weekend of artistic tips, tricks and training on the University of Science and Arts campus. Beginning Sept. 21, public school teachers and college professors will engage in workshops for the annual Oklahoma Art Education Association (OAEA) conference.

The conference ends Saturday afternoon with a special presentation in USAO’s Gaia Garden.

Dr. Dan Hanson, professor of music at USAO, is taking to the keyboard when “Buddy Holly” comes to town. Hanson, known for his rock ‘n’ roll history forte on campus, is joining the Buddy Holly tribute band Sept. 15 at 7:30 p.m. at the Chickasha High School Fine Arts Center.

CHICKASHA – Chickasha students of all ages now have the best tickets in town to the city’s premier performing arts series, thanks to a recent gift by the Chickasha Public School Foundation. The seventh annual Davis-Waldorf Performing Arts Series (DWPAS) at the University of Science and Arts starts Sept. 18 with the Byron Berline Band at 7:30 p.m. in the Te Ata Memorial Auditorium.

CHICKASHA – For the second consecutive year, students and faculty from the University of Science and Arts were invited to present research data at the annual American Psychological Association conference. More than 10,000 psychologists from across the globe attended this year’s conference, held Aug. 17-20 in San Francisco.
