CHICKASHA – Two graduates from the University of Science and Arts have been chosen to receive this year’s Young Alumni Awards at the annual USAO Alumni Homecoming. Metro artist Paul Mays and language arts innovator Amy Brooks Ingram were honored during an annual luncheon Nov. 2 as part of the alumni reunion.

CHICKASHA – As part of its annual Alumni Homecoming, the University of Science and Arts selected two individuals to receive honors at an awards luncheon for new USAO Alumni Hall of Fame inductees. A World War II fighter pilot and a music educator were named to the Hall of Fame during theNov. 2 ceremony.

For the first time ever, admission to the fall commencement on Dec. 7 at the University of Science and Arts will require tickets.

CHICKASHA – For most people, death is the end of a long journey. But for the drama department at the University of Science and Arts, it’s just the beginning. Its recent fall production, Arthur Miller’s “The Death of a Salesman,” earned several state drama awards and honors after its final performance last weekend.

CHICKASHA – Preparations for this year’s Alumni Homecoming are underway at the University of Science and Arts. Coordinators say that the annual festivities, scheduled Nov. 2-4, are filled with fun events and activities for the anticipated 300 guests from across the nation.

CHICKASHA – Although flamenco guitarist Ronald Radford has traveled the world over, he is returning to his Oklahoma roots Nov. 6 to perform at the University of Science and Arts as the third installment in the annual Davis-Waldorf Performing Arts Series (DWPAS).

CHICKASHA – The University of Science and Arts is inviting the local deaf and hard of hearing community to attend a special presentation Oct. 29 on the USAO campus. The presentation, led by Communication Services for the Deaf (CSD), is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. in the Gary Hall Lounge.

The event is free and open to the public.

CHICKASHA – Continuing in last year’s footsteps, the University of Science and Arts will host the Oklahoma Music Educator’s Association (OMEA) All-State Choir regional auditions Oct. 27.

CHICKASHA – Professors, professional musicians and student performers are joining forces for a six-night musical, intellectual and philosophical look at Johann Sebastian Bach at the University of Science and Arts. Beginning Oct. 22, the university is offering six consecutive evenings of free events that center not only on the famous composer’s music, but different aspects of the life and times of Bach.

CHICKASHA – The University of Science and Arts is home to many clubs and organizations that advocate for and serve in their communities. One student club, the Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA), is doing its part by encouraging local participation in its “Rainbow Union Event” at 11:30 a.m. Oct. 11 on the USAO oval.
