From the moment that Ayaan Hirsi Ali fled to the Netherlands to seek political asylum in 1992, she has been a lightning rod for controversy and a conduit for conversation about Islam in the modern world.
Hirsi Ali will deliver the keynote address at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27 at the fourth annual Ray and Mary Giles Symposium on Citizenship and Public Service at the University of Science and Arts in Chickasha.
Every year, the university produces a new issue of the USAO Magazine to let our many friends and supporters know about this institution’s 108-year legacy and what our students, faculty, alumni and staff are doing to extend it into the future.
This year’s theme is Giving Back and it is chocked full of interesting articles, video features and slideshows that demonstrate all the ways that giving back impact the people around us.
Every child loves to sing, clap, dance and make rhythms on whatever is at hand. Elementary school music teachers can receive specialized training in turning these natural human impulses into a lifelong love for music in their students at a special workshop scheduled for Oct. 29 at the University of Science and Arts in Chickasha.
Alums from across the nation will meet on the campus of the University of Science and Arts for the 2011 Alumni Homecoming Nov. 3-6. The reunion, Giving Back, is filled with many special events for alumni of the Oklahoma College for Women, Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts and USAO.
