Neill Scholarship Extended to May 2
Prospective students can still apply for the William Neill Scholarship through the USAO Foundation Office for the Fall 2011 term as the deadline to apply has been extended to May 2.
One first-year student will receive the scholarship, which will cover the cost of room, board, books, tuition and related fees above an amount paid by other scholarships or financial aid.
Applicants should meet seven criteria, and preference will be given to a student who may not otherwise be college eligible and who is perceived to have potential to succeed at USAO.
To be chosen, the prospective student must be a first-year student who is a second-generation Oklahoma resident. Applicants also should hold a religious worldview, according to the scholarship agreement.
Other criteria include filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) each academic year, having been admitted and enrolled in USAO full-time in pursuit of a degree and making satisfactory academic progress, according to USAO institutional academic and financial aid policy.
Finally, applicants should agree to live in on-campus housing, participate in campus community, meet with an advisor each trimester to set annual goals and seek and maintain part-time employment.
The William Neill Scholarship is renewable on an annual basis for up to eight fall/spring terms for those who maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average by the end of their second year and for each subsequent year.
The donors will make the final selection after all applications are submitted, and the Financial Aid Office will notify the recipient when one is chosen.
Applications are due by Monday, May 2, and may be returned by mail, fax or e-mail. No late applications will be accepted.
