USAO Receives Matching Grant From Oklahoma Arts Council
Another year of performing and visual art events at the University of Science and Arts will be made possible thanks in part to the Oklahoma Arts Council.
USAO has been awarded a matching grant from the OAC to assist in three performances of the Davis-Waldorf Performing Arts Series, fall Art Gallery events and the Artscope Summer Arts Camp. The USAO Foundation, Inc. was awarded $14,856 for support of these events.
The 10th season of the Davis-Waldorf Performing Arts Series begins Sept. 25 with the Horseshoe Road Band. In addition to the band, the OAC is supporting a performance of Perpetual Motion on Jan. 25 and the Dallas Brass on Feb. 28.
The USAO Art Gallery begins its fall season with an exhibit of the paintings of John Kingerlee on Sept. 7 and welcomes Oklahoma City artist Steve Breerwood on Oct. 8. The fall season concludes Nov. 12-Dec. 10 with the works of Juan Granados.
Chickasha’s premier arts camp, Artscope, is gearing up for a fun two weeks in June 2011 at USAO.
Through state appropriations and grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Oklahoma Arts Council funds arts events and arts education programs throughout the state. Projects funded by the Oklahoma Arts Council generate matching funds and create public/private partnerships that, in turn, impact Oklahoma's economy throughout the state's rural and urban communities.
