COFFMAN, Mary Belle (Wolsey)

Shawnee resident Mary Belle Coffman, 91, died Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, in Edmond.

She was born Sept. 12, 1912, in Shawnee to Charles Wesley Wolsey and Elsie Bohannon-Wolsey.

Coffman received a bachelor of music arts degree from the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, now known as the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma.

She lived in Shawnee for many years and taught at Will Rogers School for 35 before retirement.

She was a member of Wesley Methodist Church where she played the organ.

She also played for other area churches. She was a member of the retired teachers association, Kappa Kappa Iota, Alpha Delta Kappa and the Ongers club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Luther Coffman; one daughter, Elizabeth Moore; one brother, Cecil Wolsey, and three sisters, Edna Spaulding, Hildred Akin and Charlene Johnson.

 

Survivors include one sister, Elsie Marie Hoover of Chickasha, and numerous nieces and nephews. Service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Resthaven Memorial Park. Gaskill Funeral Home is directing arrangements.
