Funeral for Johnnie Lee Cox, 89, Lawton, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday June, 26, at University Church of Christ with Weldon Flanagan, Church of Christ minister and Mike Bentley, minister, University Church of Christ, officiating.


Mrs. Cox died Wednesday, June 23, 2004, in a Lawton nursing care center.
Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery, north of Chickasha, under direction of Becker Funeral Home.


She was born July 10, 1914, in Riley, Ark., to Daniel Clayton and Emma Jean Corbin Hedger. She lived in Havana, Ark., and came to Oklahoma in a covered wagon at the age of 10. She attended school at Wolf, and later attended Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts.

 

She was a food service supervisor at McMahon Tomlinson Nursing Center for 13 years, and was a member of H.I.E.F.S.S. She was also a member of University Church of Christ.


Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Betty Lee and Robert Obenhaus, Houston; and Shirley Ann and Klaus Mueller, Lawton; a sister, Wanda Mae Kirby, Chickasha; eight grandchildren and six spouses: Stanley Edward and Vicki Obenhaus, Warwick, R.I.; Steven Lee and Cindy Obenhaus, Kansas City, Mo.; Stacy Royce and Rebecca Obenhaus, Dallas; Daniel Clayton Obenhaus, Austin, Texas; Douglas Michael and Jan Obenhaus, Sabaltus, Maine; Richard Fritz and Tina Mueller, Lawton; Kathy Lynn Mueller, Clearwater, Fla.; and Jennifer Leah and Henry Daugherty, Fletcher; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.


She was preceded in death by three brothers: Vernon, Truman and Norman.
