Donna Mae Kelsey, Ponca City, left this life at age 90 on Jan. 16, 2014 to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born April 4, 1923, in Burbank, in an old two-story house which she called "the old big house." Donna was the second child born to Arthur and Susan Mae Butler Jacques. Through the 11th grade, Donna lived in the Denoya area with her parents, her sister Melba, and brothers, Art and Jim. She graduated from Shidler High School in 1941. She continued her education in Chickasha at Oklahoma College for Women. Upon completion of her studies at OCW and Draughon's School of Business in Tulsa, she began employment at the Phillips Petroleum office in Shidler. Donna was married to high school sweetheart Lawrence Kelsey on Oct. 26, 1943 in Ponca City. Their married life began in Hondo, Texas, where the Army Air Corp was located. Within a short two months, Lawrence was deployed to the European Theater with the Army Air Corp. After the war, Donna and Lawrence made their home in Shidler, where they were blessed with three children, Larry, Diane and Curtis. Donna spent the rest of her life in Shidler in a home that was lovingly designed and built by her husband. Donna always was happiest surrounded by her immediate and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Melba, granddaughter Callie Ann and Lawrence, her husband of 54 years. Surviving are her brothers, Arthur Jacques and wife Joan; Jim Jacques and wife Peggy; and Donna's three children, Larry Kelsey and wife Lynda; Diane Steggs and husband Jeff; and Curtis Kelsey and wife Keri. Donna has seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Graveside funeral services will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, at Grandview Cemetery of Kaw City. The Rev. John Kelsey will officiate.
