Margurette Inez Margurette SHOEMAKER Was born May 16, 1918 in Lawton, Oklahoma to Eddie William Shoemaker and Margurette Elizabeth McDuffie Shoemaker. She passed away on Saturday February 15, 2014 at Somerset Manor in Santa Rosa, CA. Margurette, her family called her "Muggins" was born in Lawton; her family relocated to Chickasha in 1939 and opened a Refrigeration business, later adding a music store section for her mother to operate. She went to the grade school and Chickasha Junior High graduating from Chickasha High School in 1936 and attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, graduating in 1940 with a Bachelor of Arts degree, she was also a member of the Art Club. After graduating, she moved to Tucson, Arizona and assisted her Aunt, Naomi Shoemaker Hathaway and her Uncle Howard on their ranch northeast of Tucson. During her stay she worked cattle, maintained bee hives, extracted honey and package and shipped to local stores. She also bred and raised dogs, including Cocker Spaniels, and drove the school bus for the Tucson district. After her Uncle passed in 1995, Margurette remained on the ranch and her Aunt moved into town and became a house director at one of the University of Arizona's Sororities. Later Margurette sold the remaining portion of the ranch and relocated to Santa Rosa, CA. Margurette was never married, however she raised and showed Norwich Terriers and was active attending dog shows with her good friend Sharon Curry from Sebastopol, CA. She had a lovely home in Santa Rosa; her entire yard was covered in beautiful Iris, ground cover, flowering trees and bushes. She had a green house in the back yard and raised orchids. She was preceded in death by both parents, two brothers; Jack Shoemaker of Chickasha and Eddie Mac Shoemaker of Port Arthur, TX and her sister Junia Shoemaker Woodard of Chickasha, OK. She is survived by her cousin, Ebb McDuffie, of Apache, OK. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Cremation is under the Direction of Daniels Chapel of the Roses, Santa Rosa, CA. Her final resting place will be in the Fairlawn Cemetery in Chickasha, OK next to her parents, sister Junia and her husband, her first sister in law; wife of Eddie Mac, also deceased, and her brother Jack.
