McCANDLESS, Mima Magoffin

Mima Magoffin McCandless, 84, of St. Petersburg, Fla., died Sunday, Sept. 26, 2004, at her home. John S. Rhodes Funeral Home Inc. East Chapel in St. Petersburg is handling arrangements.


Mrs. McCandless was born in Savanna. She lived in Norman until 1961 and then moved to Florida. She was a former co-owner of Rich's Appliance & TV Service in Punta Gorda, Fla. She attended Oklahoma College For Women and graduated with a degree in journalism and a minor in English from the University of Oklahoma in 1943.

 

She was a life member of the OU Alumni Association. She was a past member of Beta Sigma Pi and Business & Professional Women. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in St. Petersburg.


Mrs. McCandless is survived by her daughter, Susan Magoffin Phillips of Port Charlotte, Fla.; sister, Franke Rayburn of McAlester; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
