MEYER, Lois (Render)

Sunday, April 1, 2012

Lois Meyer slipped away April 1, 2012, to celebrate Palm Sunday in heaven. Lois was 97 years old. She was born at Roosevelt, OK, the daughter of Odith and Ethel Render. She had three sisters, Edith Sears, Jewel Kovar, Aledo Brent; and one brother, W.L. Render.

All preceded her in death. At three months old, following the death of her mother, Lois was welcomed into the home of her Aunt Claudie Wiley and L.W. Wiley, where she grew up as one of their own, with two sisters, Faye Campbell, Estes Higgins, and their brother, Osler Wiley.

After attending Central State Teachers College and Oklahoma College for Women, she worked as an elementary teacher in Shattuck, OK. She married Henry A. Meyer May 20, 1938, in Shattuck.

They made their home there until 1960, when they moved to Guymon, OK. Lois taught in the Guymon public school system until she retired after 25 years. After her husband's death, she continued to live in Guymon until 1993, when she moved to Oklahoma City to be near her daughter, Jean Lile; son-in-law, Robert Lile; and granddaughter, Amy Lile Raney; who survive her.

Lois has three great-grandchildren, Ethan Worley, Parker Worley, and Hannah Raney.

Lois was totally devoted to the love and care of her family. Lois was loved by all who knew her because she put others first, making them special, not wanting anything in return.

Lois was a charter member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. Graveside services will be held at Shattuck Cemetery April 28th, 1 p.m.
