Jordan to deliver keynote address at 1st Annual USAO Student Leadership Conference
Students at the University of Science and Arts will be challenged to reach their highest leadership potential when motivational speaker Dion Jordan comes to campus as part of the 1st annual USAO Student Leadership Conference on Feb. 8.
Jordan is a highly sought after speaker who uses lessons drawn from his own journey to overcome adversity to motivate and inspire the leaders of tomorrow. Born with a condition known as metatarsus varus and a serious speech impediment, Jordan had to work diligently as a child and adolescent to rehabilitate both his body and his ability to communicate in order to achieve his goals.
Since, Jordan has been the recipient of numerous accolades including the Blooming Board of Educators’ Educator of the Year award, Alpha Kappa Alpha’s Alpha Emerald Award for outstanding community and speaking services and Speaker of the Year by Toastmasters.
The leadership conference is designed to give students an opportunity to develop and enhance their leadership skills while networking with other leaders on campus. After Jordan’s keynote address, participants will attend breakout sessions run by Jordan and others to discuss and refine specific leadership tools.
The conference is sponsored by USAO Student Services, the Division of Enrollment Management and is co-sponsored by the President’s Leadership Council, the Student Activities Board and the First National Bank and Trust of Chickasha.
The conference will be held on Feb. 8 from 6:00-9:15 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom. Check-in will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Student Center.
Interested students can register in the Student Services office, located on the top floor of the Student Center, or online at the conference website (/node/11038). For more information, call 574-1378.
