Simpson receives Staff Achievement award
Currently fulfilling two full-time positions on staff, Bobbie Jo Simpson was awarded the Regents Staff Achievement Award. Simpson was named honoree for the first quarter of the 2012-13 year at a meeting of the USAO Staff Association.
Simpson, who has served as director of the Sparks Residence Hall since 2009, was brought on as an admissions counselor earlier this year. In the interim, Simpson has continued to serve as director while a suitable candidate to replace her is located.
A former colleague in Student Services describes Simpson as someone who has given, “nothing but her best to USAO since her first day.”
“Her dedication and hardworking attitude, coupled with her desire to enhance the experiences of our students makes her an asset for any department.”
Simpson, who graduated from USAO in 2008 with a bachelor of arts in communication, is already receiving high praise for her work in the admissions office as well.
“Now that she has moved to admissions, she is currently functioning full-time in both the resident director and admissions counselor positions and still bringing the enthusiasm, hard work and competitive edge to each job,” another nominator wrote.
“Bobbie invested herself in the university as a student and continues to do so as an employee.”
She was presented the award at the Staff Association meeting in October by Jessica Jackson, sports information manager and Employee of the Year for 2011-12.
The Regents Staff Achievement Award is presented quarterly to one outstanding staff member. From these award winners, an Employee of the Year recipient is selected, who will be recognized at the USAO Board of Regents meeting next September.
