BEETS, Freeman H.
Memorial service for Dr. Freeman H. Beets, 90, former President of OCW of Chickasha, Oklahoma will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 8, 2009 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home. Beets was born April 19, 1919, in Chickasha, Oklahoma the son of Daniel and Ida Belle (Alverson) Beets and died September 29, 2009 in Chickasha. Dr. Beets had lived in Chickasha most of his life. He and Margaret Edwards were married December 25, 1941 in McAlester, Oklahoma. He served as president of OCW. He also worked for the Baptist General Convention in Nashville, Tennessee. Dr. Beets served in the 13th Armored Division, known as the Black Cats, during World War II and received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a member of the Rotary Club. Dr. Beets was preceded in death by: Parents, Wife: Margaret E. Beets, Survivors include: 1 daughter: Susan Durant of Summer Shade, Kentucky, Several nieces, nephews and cousins. Interment will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Margaret and Freeman Beets Scholarship at USAO or the Parkinson's Research Fund.
